LATEST UPDATES RELEASED BY INSTAGRAM
Created and launched in October 2010 by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger exclusively for iOS devices. “Insta” (or IG) as it is informally referred to was later made available on Android devices just 18 months after it was launched. In 2012, Instagram was bought for $1billion by Facebook in cash and stock.

When Instagram started, you could only post square 1:1 ratio images, but its a changed story now as you can now post HD photos and videos. In 2018, the app recorded over 1billion users monthly.
It is evident that Instagram has experienced tremendous growth since its creation and the owners are not relenting in adding new features to enhance consumers’ satisfaction. Below is a list of features that have just been released on the app:
INSTAGRAM BRINGS DIRECT MESSAGING (DM) TO WEB

Before now, you could access your account on the web, but there were lots of restrictions back then. The direct messaging experience will be the same on browsers as it is on mobile cause you can now slide into one’s DM where you can chat with them and share pictures from your desktop, you can create new groups, you can double-tap to like a post and see the unread messages you have. You will also get notifications if you turn on notifications on for the Instagram site on your web browser.
Note that as at the time of writing this post, Instagram had announced that the feature was rolled out gradually which means not everyone will see the feature immediately.
Mark Zuckerberg has promised a future where users of Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp and Instagram can all chat with each other regardless of the app they’re on.
TRACK NUMBER OF PERSONS THAT HAVE SAVED YOUR PHOTO
No matter how long you’ve been available on Instagram, you can only identify the persons that liked a post or commented on a post, which means you won’t be able to view those that saved your post.
The only way to track someone who saved your picture on Instagram is by converting your profile on Instagram to a business profile, by doing so, you’ll be able to view the number of saves your post or Photo has, but you cannot view who saved the post in particular.
To see how many saves your photos have (after changing your account to a business account), follow the steps below:
- Tap the profile icon to view your posts.
- Select the post you want to view the number of saves being counted for.
- When the posts finish loading, Select View Insights under the image or video.
- You’ll view different statistics. The bookmark icon tells us the number of times your post was saved by someone.
N.B: No app on Appstore or Playstore can be used to view the number of saves your photos have, if you find any of such being advertised, DO NOT INSTALL!!!
